The researchers have found that men who live in the United States are three times more likely to suffer from a coronary heart failure than Japanese men, who consume higher servings of fish weekly than their American counterparts. It was also found that the Japanese had higher levels of Omega-3 in their bodies.
"I find the results of the study highly agreeable." Says John W. Collins, president of PacificCoast NutriLabs, a company specializing in the manufacture of high-quality nutritional supplements such as the PLATINUM Series Fish Oil Omega-3. "Illnesses of the heart are one of the biggest killers here in the U.S. Any news that could give us an insight on how to prevent such a condition is always welcome."
The researchers at Pittsburgh University worked with scientists in Japan, Philadelphia and Hawaii to study 300 men over the course of five years, tracking other factors that affect cardiovascular health such as cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, presence of diabetes and cholesterol in the blood. After accounting for these risk factors, it was revealed that men from the United States had "three times the incidence of coronary artery calcification" compared to the Japanese men. The researchers have also found that the Japanese have 100% more Omega-3 fatty acids in their blood compared to American men.
Lead author of the journal, Akira Sekikawa, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of epidemiology at Pitt Public Health, stated that the study has had mixed results, wherein it was found that the level of marine-derived omega-3 consumed must be higher than what was previously thought is needed, as opposed to previous research done on the subject. Sekikawa also stressed that the vast difference in the occurrence of heart disease and omega-3 levels is not due to hereditary factors, as it is also found out that Japanese-Americans actually have higher levels of coronary calcification compared to the rest of U.S. population.
The study has found that Japanese men eat at least 100 grams' worth of fish, the best source for Omega-3, daily, as opposed to Americans, who only consume 7 to 13 grams of fish a day, which is about one serving of fish per week.
"I'm glad to know that we have a fighting chance against coronary heart failure." Says John W. Collins. "I'm especially happy for those who are in a solid fish oil or Omega-3 regimen, since they could benefit greatly from the results of the study."
To celebrate the results of the study, PacificCoast NutriLabs is offering their PLATINUM Series Fish Oil Omega 3 at 50% off its original price. Those interested may get the discount by using the promo code: HUGEDEAL at checkout when purchasing on Amazon.
