(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 26, 2013 ) London, UK -- Pat Miller died Saturday in Casper, Wyoming. He was a resident of Salt Lake City, but passed away while visiting his brother, who was inducted with Miller as All-American skiers into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Fort Lewis College of Colorado.
Miller joined University of Utah in 1974 as an assistant coach. He quickly worked his way up to mens head coach in 1976 and just two short years later, also became the womens head coach. In 1981, he and his mens winter sports team won the national title and then went on to win eight more after the men and women teams were combined to make one team.
In the 1980s, Miller and his team won five titles in a six year stretch, winning second place in the other.
By the time he retired in 1999, Miller has coached all 46 NCAA champions in the individual divisions, 251 All Americans and even coached 10 Olympians. In 2009, he was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, and was an influential member of Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame. He was also added to his home states hall of fame, the Maine Ski Hall of Fame.
