(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 27, 2014 ) Neptune, New Jersey -- Lets face it, training with Resistance Bands looks very unimpressive. Peering across the gym one sees a fellow gym devote using Resistance Bands and it hardly gets any attention. But have somebody working out with heavy weights either free or machines and it does draw onlookers.
Put that same strongman on Resistance Bands and although it's challenging enough, not anyone pays him any mind. Resistance Bands are deceiving because of the size of the apparatus along with the compactness of the product. But their effects to building strength and muscle are so overlooked it's quite shocking.
Resistance Bands have a long history. Many of the old-time strongmen used Bands regularly when working out because they were so effective in building muscle, increasing strength and staying trim. There even were competitions called "strand' pulling where each contestant was pitted against another to see who could "pull" the most resistance.
Lifting a weight one receives the greatest resistance at the beginning of the exercise. As the initial inertia is overcome the rest of the exercise becomes progressively easier. With Resistance Bands it's quite the opposite. Starting an exercise movement is actually the easiest, and as one continues the resistance increases and one has to exert more effort to complete the effort.
So Resistance Bands will strengthen a muscle in a different way. Because of the increased resistance at a different point in a given exercise, the muscle being worked on will become stronger and grow in a different part of the muscle. Individuals desiring to lose fat, gain muscle and get fit will benefit greatly adding Resistance Band training to the daily routine.
