(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 18, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Quantec Ltd, a New Zealand-based dairy biotechnology company presented the results of its recent clinical trial in the US on acne at the New Zealand Dermatological Society Annual Meeting on July 11-12 in Coolum, Australia.
The clinical trial was conducted at a research facility in California and completed in February 2013. IDP(R), Quantecs patented complex of bioactive milk proteins, was the main ingredient in a skin cream that was compared in a double blind study against a US-based premium brand of acne treatment cream.
The trial lasted for 42 days and involved 84 subjects. At the end, both the IDP(R)-based cream and the premium brand acne cream showed statistically equivalent results in reducing acne lesions.
The IDP(R)-based cream also reduced redness and inflammation by over 52%. It also passed careful testing for use on subjects with sensitive skin. This rendered it the superior product as it is ideal for individuals with sensitive and hyper-reactive skin.
Dr. Rod Claycomb, the founder and Managing Director of Quantec, explained that IDP(R) is a naturally derived compound of bio-proteins, which have unique properties and render them very powerful against some types of disease causing bacteria. As a result, the natural and beneficial bacteria on the skin is left almost entirely unaffected that leads to a perfect combination to treat and manage acne. He then pointed out that IDP(R) contains the Triple-A activity - antiinflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant.
Quantec was founded on the premise that its products are scientifically proven, which is why it was important to the company to disclose the results of its clinical trial on acne to dermatologists prior to developing and launching a product for the market.
The company specializes in the discovery and commercialization of bioactives from natural products. One of its greatest discoveries was the novel milk fraction, which is comprised of native immune defense proteins (IDP(R) ) and contains anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
