(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 13, 2014 ) Oakland, CA -- More often than not, people equate a beautiful body with a skinny figure. Nowhere is this more evident than in today's reality where almost all models and beauty queens have very slim bodies. It was a pleasant surprise, then, that a beauty contestant raised a bit of a flurry when she proudly displayed her "normal" figure during the competition's swimsuit portion.

Although Ms. Indiana did not make it to Miss USA 2014's Top 10, she most certainly made a huge impact on the viewers and the audience. Tweets like "thank you for looking like an average woman", and "finally a contestant that's not a bag of bones" attest to this. People the world over are so used to super skinny beauty contestants that seeing Ms. Indiana came as quite a refreshing change.

According to Finesseur spokesperson, Allison Montgomery: "We at Finesseur agree that a beautiful body does not necessarily have to be a skinny body. A lot of people develop some sort of inferiority complex for having non-skinny bodies. It's sad because this leads to unreasonable diet practices. People need to be reminded that starving one's self is not the way to achieve the body one wants. How can you benefit if you attain that skinny body but get sick in the process?"

Montgomery further adds: "Rather than self-deprivation, maintaining a nutritionally balanced diet through controlled food portioning is a better and healthier way." To promote this advocacy, Finesseur offers a digital kitchen scale which consumers can use to literally “watch what they eat”.

Sometimes, diet management can be as simple as controlling food intake through carefully weighed food portions. Having a tool that can help with this is a great start towards achieving good health and beauty which most people desire.

"Unfortunately for us, we live in a society with a stereotype for how a beautiful person should look like. Ms. Indiana 2014, looking like she does, could not have come at a better time. Our food scale may be a simple tool. We hope, though, that in its own little way, it can help change people for the better. After all, being beautiful should not be a stereotype. Rather, it should be about treating oneself right, and feeling good about it," the spokesperson concludes.
