Rosehips come from the musk rose plant. The flowering shrub originated in the Himalayas as a cultivated plant. Today, musk roses are grown largely in Chile, where the plant's oils are harvested for the commercial market.
The rose hip is a part of the flower at the base of the petals. When the rose's petals fall off, the rose hip is left behind and resembles a small red berry. This berry, or "hip," is rich in oil that is packed full of antioxidants, vitamins and omega fatty acids.
